The best way to contact me is via email. My email address is [email protected]. I almost always turn around emails within 24 hours -- usually sooner.
Here's my bio:
I can scarcely believe it, but this is my 23rd year teaching; I am so grateful for the opportunity to help kids learn and grow.
I got my start in teaching as a volunteer 8th grade teacher on the island of Yap in Micronesia at the age of 20. This early experience (after sophomore year of college) changed the course of my life, opening my eyes to the joy that can be found in helping others grow! I am part of the original crew that opened Heron School in 2006, and I am excited that it has grown to be such a wonderful place for students and families.
In designing my classroom and curriculum, my guiding question is always, "What would I want for my own kids?" (I've got two!). I want my kids' teachers to help them grow academically, emotionally, and socially. I want them to show that they care for my kids and to manage the classroom environment so that my kids feel physically and emotionally safe. I want my kid to be treated with respect but held to account to treat others with respect as well. I want my kids to have fun at school and be challenged. Maybe that's what you want too. That's what I am going to try to provide.
